JAMMU & KASHMIR
Paradise On Earth

Kashmir is a multi-faceted diamond set like a jewel on the map of India. Two major Himalayan ranges, the great Himalaya and the Pir Panjal, surround the Valley from the north and south respectively. The Mughals aptly called Kashmir “ Paradise on Earth” and traveled long distances to spend the summers in it’s cool environs. Here they discovered the valley’s fabled hill stations and laid Srinagar’s famous Mughal Gardens. They also patronized the development of the art and crafts and left behind a rich heritage of exquisite artisan ship.

Kashmir is a land where many holiday ideas are realized, a gift of its spectacular landscape and distinctive seasons. In winter, when snow carpets the valley, you can go for skiing and sledge riding along the slopes of Gulmarg. Or say back in Srinagar and simply enjoy the bare snow-covered landscape from the windows of a heated room. In spring and summer (April-August), the honey-dewed orchards, flower-carpeted meadows, rippling lakes and blue skies beckon everyone to sample the many delights of the valley.

SRINAGAR : Srinagar is located in the heart of the Kashmir Valley, and is spread on both sides of the Jhelum river. It is a unique city because of its lakes - the Dal, the Nagin and the Anchor which provide delightful houseboat holidays. Chashme Shahi, Nishat Bagh, Shalimar Bagh, Hazratbal, Shankaracharya Temple are places of tourist interest.

GULMARG : Gulmarg is rated as one of the matchless hill resorts in the world. Gulmarg is the valley, lush and green, located in the uplands of Jammu and Kashmir. All around are snow-capped mountains, and on clear day one can see all the way to Nanga Parbat, in one direction and Srinagar to another. Gulmarg also has one of the world’s highest green golf course.

KHILANMARG : Carpeted with flowers in summer, this uphill journey from Gulmarg offers an unraveled spectacle of the peaks and wide spreading waters of Wular and other lakes.

PAHALGAM : Pahalgam is an idyllic resort, located on the banks of river Lidder and Sheshnag. The surroundings are ideal and allow for relaxation and leisure in the true spirit of traditional hill resort.

SONMARG : It literally stands for “Meadows Of Gold”. The blooming valley has been chiseled over the ages by the mighty Indus river. In a sharp and joyous contrast to the green meadow land Sonmarg has a string of shimmering waterfalls and the Thaijwas Glacier.

JAMMU : Peer Khoh, Peer Baba, Ranbireshwar Temple, Ragunath Temple, Ganga Ghat, etc. are worth visiting.

KATRA : This small town serves as the base camp for visiting the famous shrine of Vaishnodeviji in the Trikuta hills. The shrine is approchable on foot along a 12km long well laid foot path.

PATNITOP : It is enveloped by thickly wooded forests and is perched on a lovely plateau offering unusual lush green picnic spots.
